And it filters through everything I do. I am currently a multimedia designer at a consultants who work with a wide range of international clients to shift
their offerings by predicting future business trends based on changes in human behaviour.
My role is primarily to develop and improve client communications through design
while maintaining the company's brand and provide print collateral and production input for client workshops. I have qualifications in graphic & web design, sound engineering, and colour theory. Most importantly I'm a firm believer that anything can be learned. This year's goal is to develop
my 3D skills and delve into the black art of UX design.
I'm at my happiest writing code. I'm constantly amazed at how far the art of web design has come and love the challenge of figuring out the latest thing and the endless routes that can be taken. I have a minimal approach to responsive design, planning ahead with my layouts to use a modicum of code while keeping the content consistent across all devices. I'm a lover of hand written code but have equal experience with CMS platforms.
The rise of motion design continues. I love the way information can be conveyed in a more relateable and human way through motion and movement. It's no longer good enough to market through static images with walls of text with our ever decreasing attention spans. We want to be entertained and we need our eyes to be hijacked. Coming from a film background I have a keen interest in how directors and photographers command our attention through storytelling, lighting, and contrast. I like to use emotional imagery and subtle movements, choreographed to music to convey a message.
One of the main things I've done during the my time in my current role is to introduce the medium of video to drive home the project goal. We've used these videos in final client workshops to break down complex ideas into something more summarised and engaging which can then be used to spread the message at a company wide level. As a sound engineer I source voiceover artists and complete script editing, recording and mixing of any video content, managing the project from start to finish.
